An important property of furniture is versatility. This quality is especially valuable when there is a lack of space. Furnishings should solve several problems: to be beautiful, to provide a cozy environment, to save space. A wardrobe with a TV just meets these requirements.
Sliding wardrobe with TV - features of the models
Unlike traditional furniture with sliding doors, a cabinet designed for installing a television receiver includes a special place for installing equipment.
This model has a number of advantages.
- Capacity.
- Versatility. Easily fits into the interior of a living room or bedroom.
- Rational use of space.
- Modern appearance.
- Wide range of designs, sizes, shapes, colors.
However, the TV cabinet is not without its weaknesses. The sliding mechanism is expensive, requires periodic maintenance, and its service life greatly depends on the correct installation and the material of the fittings.
How to choose the right one
If you are bored with the classic design of built-in furniture with a niche for appliances, opt for a block design. By assembling individual fragments into a single set, you can make maximum use of the space of the apartment.
Patterned glass doors look good in tandem with the shiny dark glass of the TV screen.
Stylists recommend paying attention to the details of the TV screen. Are there decorative elements in its frame or maybe a certain color prevails? If yes, then try to repeat this in the design of a built-in wardrobe. This technique will give the interior a special chic.
The fantasy of the owners of a house or apartment can be easily satisfied by a huge selection of cabinets with a niche for a TV.
Types of models
Based on the method of placing TV equipment, products are divided into two categories. The option with a niche is considered simpler. In some cases, the only possible solution is to mount the TV directly on the cabinet facade.
With a niche for a TV
The sliding wardrobe with a niche for a TV is presented in several variations.
- A place is allocated for equipment in the central part of the wardrobe. There is a cabinet, chest of drawers or a shelf system. Sections installed on the sides are responsible for storage.
- The corner design means that the TV will take up space on the longer side of the L-shaped cabinet. This method should be chosen for a hall that is divided into several functional areas. In this case, you should carefully consider where to arrange the sofa group.
The television receiver is installed on a tabletop or attached to the wall. The second option looks more concise.
The niche can be open or complemented by door panels. The TV is open only for viewing time.
With façade mounting
For those who are not looking for easy ways and strive for originality, a sliding wardrobe with a built-in TV is suitable. However, television receivers weighing up to 5 kg are allowed for placement on the façade. Heavier models are attached only to the side walls. The fact is that they increase the load on the elements of the sliding system and cause rapid wear of the mechanism. In this case, plastic rollers should be abandoned. Elements coated with Teflon or polymer composite are recommended. The sliding device must have a safety margin taking into account the expected load.
To mount the TV and route the wires, you will need to make several holes in the door. Using a cable channel will help to avoid creases.
Types and models
If we consider the types of such structures, then it is worth focusing on two: cabinet and built-in wardrobes.
Cabinet cabinets can be moved, since they have walls that serve as their bases. These structures have sliding doors that cover the side compartments; in the center of the structure there is an open area with a recess for a TV and shelves.
Built-in wardrobes are distinguished by the fact that it is impossible to move them without disassembling the entire structure, their walls above and below are the floor and ceiling, their main advantage is saving space in the room, they are very spacious.
There are many models of such furniture. Let's look at the most popular ones.
With a shelf in the middle
In this model, the TV is placed in the middle of the structure, under it there is most often a cabinet with drawers inside, and there are also shelves above the TV, closed or open. On the sides of the TV there are spacious compartments covered with sliding sliding doors.
With built-in wall-mounted TV
There are also wardrobe designs with a built-in wall-mounted TV, a very convenient model in that it combines the space even more. A TV mounted on the wall is more convenient to watch. In general, the model is similar to the previous one, since it also has built-in drawers under the TV, shelves, and side compartments.
Angular
The sliding wardrobe gives the room an unusual design. It elegantly covers the corner of the room, filling the space with sophistication. The TV space is usually located inside the longest side of the cabinet. On the other side there is the cabinet itself, with sliding doors. If you order it in large sizes, it can easily replace a spacious, full-fledged wardrobe.
The side where the TV is located is decorated with various open shelves, where you can perfectly place decorative items that will give your room a unique chic.
Design with a closed niche for a TV. This model allows you to make the space with the TV closed with a sliding door, like other shelves. You can only open it when you want to watch TV. Doors of this model can be one color or, on the contrary, you can focus on the central part of the structure.
Types of facades - mechanisms and structures
The facade of the sliding wardrobe is equipped with supporting or hanging type doors.
The support system demonstrates high reliability and resistance to loads. It consists of an upper and lower profile, rollers, and door leaf. In this case, the main role is played by the lower rail, and the upper profile is responsible for stabilizing the sash in space and setting the direction of movement.
The weak point is considered to be: rapid contamination of the bottom guide, the possibility of the door falling out.
In the hanging mechanism, the load is taken by the upper profile, and there are fixing elements at the bottom. The system operates smoothly, but is not designed for heavy loads. Violation of the permissible values leads to rapid wear of the fittings.
Depending on the design, door leaves can be framed or frameless.
The edging made of a metal profile guarantees the preservation of the correct geometry of the sash and smooth operation. Its absence makes the product cheaper, but its performance characteristics deteriorate.
A variety of materials are used to make doors.
Decoration of facades is carried out in accordance with the material used. The most commonly used techniques are:
- sandblasting;
- stained glass painting;
- photo printing;
- paint and varnish coatings;
- PVC film or natural veneer;
- fusing;
- leather;
- bamboo or rattan inserts.
Types and arrangement of facades of sliding wardrobes for TV - what to consider
When planning the installation of a sliding wardrobe with a TV, pay attention to the reliability of the door system:
- Mounted. This is something to avoid. The top stop is too unreliable. Sliding doors are prone to falls and distortions;
- Hanging. The load is distributed in half between the guides. There is more reliability, but it is also not enough to hang equipment on the facade. It is quite suitable for a closed niche;
- With side profile. Exactly what is needed. The doors are rigid enough not to deform during operation. The rollers are equipped with stoppers and smooth running closers. The profile simultaneously plays the role of external fittings. Bottom stop. The upper carriage only supports the direction of travel;
- Coplanar. "Bourgeois" option. A modern system where the rollers have been replaced with movable side mounts. The sash must be slightly pulled out towards you and then moved to the side. When closed, the doors form a perfectly even row. Very reliable and durable. This option cannot be installed in built-in cabinet models.
The choice of decor is no less important:
- Glass. Fits perfectly into the design, in harmony with wide screens. Give preference to panels tinted in the mass (graphite, gold, bronze). This way you can avoid color disharmony. Milk glass doors will create an interesting contrast effect. It is etched until it partially or completely loses its transparency while maintaining its gloss. A good option for black and white sets. In any case, choose glass with shockproof coating (special films);
- Hand painted. This could be airbrushing or stained glass. In the first case, entrust the job to a master. Not everyone knows how to draw without stencils. The second option allows you to use sketches. You will need acrylic paints. Although it is better to buy special stained glass ones. All transitions between colors must be accompanied by drying of each area;
- Veneer. If you don’t mind spending money on elite solid wood, but want respectability, choose veneer. The furniture is covered with thin layers of wood. Even cutting-edge TVs will look organic. Requires additional care and processing. Do not use in damp areas or if you notice symptoms of fungus or mold. All this can quickly kill the expensive beauty of veneer;
- Decoacrylic. Between two very thin layers of acrylic, panels of natural natural materials are placed. This could be bamboo, compositions made from shells, leaves. Fantasize for your health. After manufacturing, the overlay is attached to the main sash. In production, acrylic allows you to create canvases with any degree of transparency and gloss. It looks very beautiful, creates a voluminous effect, and is durable. Does not require additional care and does not fade.
Sliding wardrobe designs
Sliding wardrobes are presented in the form of cabinet and built-in structures.
The first option consists of a traditional set of elements: sides, back panel, bottom and top cover. It is usually installed along the wall, but can also be located in the center of the room, serving as a partition. This product can always be moved to a new location if desired.
The built-in model is usually mounted in a niche, corner or occupies a narrow partition, allowing you to intelligently use the available space and save a few square centimeters. Its design lacks some parts, and their functions are performed by the floor, ceiling and walls of the room. The cabinet is made to individual sizes and is securely fixed, so it is not intended for another corner of the apartment or house.
What to consider when choosing
When choosing a wardrobe for a TV, it is recommended to adhere to the following principles.
- Installation location. The design should form a harmonious ensemble with other furnishings in the living room or bedroom.
- Dimensions. The dimensions of the area for placing furniture are designed to ensure the normal functioning of the sliding system.
- Niche parameters. There should be a gap between the furniture and equipment for normal air circulation, which will ensure natural cooling of the television receiver. It is advisable to purchase a TV before purchasing a cabinet, or at least decide on its size.
- Access to power supply. It is necessary to ensure that there is a sufficient number of sockets and an antenna cable.
- Direction of light flows. Avoid direct sunlight on the TV screen.
- Proximity to sources of thermal radiation. The minimum permissible distance is 1 m.
- Environmental Safety. It is important to make sure that materials that do not pose a health hazard were used in the manufacture of the cabinet. This must be confirmed by an appropriate certificate.
Advantages and disadvantages
Sliding wardrobes with a niche for a TV have a number of advantages in comparison with products of a similar type:
- capacity;
- compactness (saving usable space);
- availability of a special place for the TV (niche with bracket, cabinet, shelf, chest of drawers);
- stylish appearance;
- ease of installation;
- variety of sizes, shapes, colors, facade design options, materials and components used in the manufacture of cabinets;
- the ability to manufacture a cabinet in accordance with the wishes of the owner (in the standard design of a compartment model with space for a TV, you can additionally include special shelves for a music center or home theater);
- visual increase in the volume of the room due to mirrors (if you select the appropriate model);
- masking defects in wall surface finishing, dividing the room into zones (if appropriately positioned).
Sliding wardrobes with a niche for a TV are well suited not only for the living room, but also for the bedroom or other rooms, but we still cannot remain silent about some of the disadvantages of such designs:
- if the product was installed incorrectly, then the elements involved in the process of opening the valves will quickly wear out;
- parts of the sliding mechanism require regular maintenance (cleaning, tightening fasteners);
- in cases where an embedded model has been selected, difficulties arise when moving it.
People purchasing sliding wardrobes should take into account not only their positive characteristics, but also points that require special attention.
Advantages and disadvantages
Most people who purchase sliding wardrobes with a niche for a TV are attracted by compactness and space saving
True, such models compare favorably with other furniture that performs the same functions.
Pros:
- combination with a plasma panel (no need for separate furniture and space);
- plenty of storage space;
- saving useful space up to 15%;
- variety of shapes, designs, colors, materials;
- the ability to manufacture a model to suit your requirements;
- visual increase in space when using mirrors and a light glossy surface;
- dividing the room into zones if necessary;
- masking wall defects;
- beautiful appearance.
The consumer's imagination can be satisfied by a huge selection of cabinets with a niche for a TV.
There are also disadvantages. Sliding panels are noisy, and if you choose cheap fittings, they quickly break down.
All designs require flawless assembly; errors can lead to deformation of the furniture. Built-in structures eliminate moving furniture to another place.
Varieties
There are several main types of wardrobes with a niche for a TV:
- cabinet - such products usually occupy an entire wall (significant dimensions cause an increase in the cost of the furniture structure), but they can be moved because they have a frame of walls and a base, which gives the furniture the necessary strength. Cabinet models are equipped with compartment doors that cover the side compartments, and the central part of the structure with niches for a TV and other items (souvenirs, photo frames, vases) remains open;
- built-in - such models are located in special niches and take up a minimum of space, since they include only sliding doors, shelves and compartments without an external casing (this reduces the cost of the product). Built-in wardrobes can significantly save space, but if you need to rearrange the product, the product will have to be completely disassembled and then reassembled in a new place;
- semi-built-in - semi-built-in wardrobes with space for a TV lack some of the body elements (only the side, or side and rear walls). This form allows you to install furniture even without a niche; it is enough to choose a suitable angle for it;
- modular - structures of this type consist of several sections that can be combined in any convenient way. You can also supplement an existing set with new elements, for example, combining a regular straight cabinet with a corner one. This creates additional space for things, and the design takes on a finished look.
Any of the above models of a wardrobe with a TV may be the most suitable for a particular room design option. You just need to decide exactly what result you need and, based on this, make your choice.
Varieties and models
Depending on the interior design, there are a large number of models for a wardrobe with a built-in TV.
Such wardrobes fit perfectly into the style of modern apartments.
If you leave a lot of space around the equipment, and place shelves on the sides and top at a large distance, this creates a feeling of spaciousness and freedom. Conversely, the more limited the space for the TV, the more compact and minimalistic the room design seems.
The most common type is a wardrobe with a shelf in the middle.
Varieties of wardrobes with built-in appliances are divided into several types:
- The TV shelf is located in the middle of the model. In this case, functional storage spaces are located above and below the equipment. There are models of built-in furniture where an additional recess for a laptop is located above the TV. Here you can fit huge flat screens to create a home cinema. Drawers and shelves for things are located on both sides of the TV screen. This design is convenient because you can watch a movie while lying on the sofa or on the floor. The height of the shelf is set so that it is comfortable to look at the screen for a long time.
- A corner cabinet saves space in the apartment and occupies the least functional area of the room. Built-in furniture is designed in such a way that shelves and drawers are arranged in height. Depending on how you place the upholstered furniture for relaxation, it will depend on where to make a niche for the TV. Usually, the long side of the structure is chosen for this, so that additional racks with drawers for storing small items can be placed on the sides.
- In the bedroom, the main and best place is reserved for the bed. A wardrobe with a TV inside is created so that you can watch a movie while lying in bed. In this case, a screen is attached to the main visible panel of the structure or a large recess is made. All things, bed linen and towels are hidden from prying eyes by sliding panels.
Niche location options
Such cabinets may differ not only in the general design features. There are also differences in where and how the TV is placed in them:
- on the shelf in the middle - a shelf or niche for the TV is placed in the central part of the product. A little lower there is usually a cabinet and drawers, and above there are small closed or open shelves. The side parts are separate spacious sections hidden behind sliding doors;
- on the wall - the niche is also located in the center, but the screen is fixed to the wall. There is almost no difference in comparison with the previous version, although the wall-mounted TV looks more modern, and the image on it is much easier to perceive;
- in the corner - if the wardrobe itself with a shelf for the TV has a corner design, then it is possible to place the screen in the corner. It looks original, but may not be very convenient;
- in a closed niche - in this case, the place where the screen is located will be closed with special sliding doors, like other compartments of the wardrobe with a TV shelf. That is, you can open the TV only when you want to watch it, and the rest of the time it will not attract attention.
All other niche placement options are combinations and variations of those already listed above.
Tips for choosing
When choosing a cabinet for a TV, you should be guided by the following criteria:
- Size – the size of the room and the desired dimensions of the cabinet itself are taken into account.
- The material from which the furniture is made. Eco-friendly options are preferred.
- The cost and quality of furniture must match each other.
- The color and style should be in harmony with the interior of the room.
- The niche must be large enough to accommodate the TV.
- The height of the plane for installing the TV should be convenient for watching programs.
- It is not recommended to choose models in the form of open shelves, as they will have to be dusted frequently.

Special attention should be paid to the installation height of the TV. This is an important point, since an inconveniently placed TV quickly causes fatigue. The best option is that the top edge of the screen should be at eye level of a sitting person. If a wardrobe is purchased for a bedroom, these parameters are not so important, since for a person lying down, the height of the screen is less important.

Which is better
When choosing the most suitable option for a sliding wardrobe with a niche for a TV, pay attention to several basic parameters:
- functional features of the place where the structure will be installed (living room, bedroom, etc.);
- maximum permissible size of the product;
- the design of the room, the materials used for its decoration and the overall color scheme;
- TV dimensions.
Taking into account these points and personal preferences ensures that the choice will be as successful as possible.
Design Features
TV has become an essential element of the interior of the living room, bedroom and other rooms. It requires an appropriate stand. Since the area of the rooms is limited, multifunctional cabinets with a compartment for installing a TV are used. Such structures perform many functions:
- Used to store clothes or linen.
- They have closed and open compartments that allow you to place books, vases and other decorative elements on them.
- Equipped with a niche for a TV, stereo or other equipment.
The TV stand can be supplemented with a cabinet for storing and charging cell phones.
Similar pieces of furniture replaced the walls that were common in the past. They have an attractive appearance and are very convenient to use. At the same time, the design of a cabinet with a niche for a TV should be convenient in all respects. The following requirements must be met:
- The dimensions of the cabinet itself and the niche should correspond as much as possible to the dimensions of the room and equipment.
- The design must be consistent with the general style of the interior.
- It is important to ensure compatibility with other pieces of furniture in the room.
- The cabinet configuration should allow you to watch TV from anywhere in the room.
When purchasing furniture, it is important to consider the presence of special holes for routing power wires and antennas. Some copies are equipped with compartments for mobile phones and other gadgets. Additional departments should be located in such a way as not to interfere with the use of equipment and to fully perform their tasks.
How to make a mini wall for a TV with your own hands?
We once set out to make a wall for a TV , but we didn’t want it to be bulky, but rather to make it light. Just these conditions correspond to a mini wall, which is also called a TV console .
This type of TV wall has certain design, let’s say, laws. First of all, it is a long cabinet with drawers, less often with doors, and no bulky cabinets - storage units. In most cases, the cabinet is made hanging, so cleaning under it is easy, plus we get the lightness we need, the wall, as they say, floats in the air.
The second design point is a hanging screen for hanging a TV and a longitudinal shelf for remote controls, tablets, and decor. Often, LED backlighting of the screen is used to create a visual decorative effect.
By the way, we implemented everything described in our mini TV wall. Now let's move on to analyzing the design and take a look at the photographs of the process of making the wall with your own hands .

Detailing a mini wall for a TV
To make the wall for the TV, we again used 18 mm thick chipboard, and made the facades combined - the top ones were made of chipboard, the bottom ones were made of plywood. The central part of our wall is open with a glass shelf. The drawers are back on our favorite ball slides.

Assembling a hanging cabinet for a mini wall
The assembly of the wall began with a hanging cabinet, vertical partitions were attached to the bottom on confirmations, ball guides were attached to them, and the lid was installed on the mounting angles.
Rice. 4. Assembling a hanging cabinet for the TV wall |
We hang the cabinet on the familiar adjustable canopies, which cling with hooks to a rail pre-attached to the wall; you can read more about this in the article on how to hang a cabinet.
Rice. 5. Installation diagram of an adjustable canopy |
Rice. 6. Hook with which the awnings cling to the rail on the wall |
At first they hung it on two canopies, guided by the fact that one canopy can withstand a load of 50 kg, but due to its length, the cabinet began to sag, so two more canopies were needed, which were installed in sections with drawers, where they are not visible.
But here we need to take into account one more point when installing the boxes - if you lift the boxes high, the box cannot be closed; it will rest against the body of the canopy. We did not take this into account, so during the installation process we had to move the axes of the guides on the side walls a little lower.
Rice. 7. The body of the cabinet is suspended from the wall |
The back wall was made of HDF in the color of the chipboard, the wall was installed in a cut, and for rigidity they were fastened together with special fasteners, which are also called “crabs.”
Again, to make the back wall more rigid, we also use plastic corners for self-tapping screws, which fit into the groove and additionally secure the HDF. Everything turns out very tough and reliable.

Screen assembly for mini wall
We also assemble the screen for hanging the TV, and attach additional vertical and transverse posts to the back with self-tapping screws. This is necessary to secure the LED strip at the end; as a result, the backlight will be hidden and the light from it will be scattered. The dimensions are calculated so that the racks are offset approximately 50 mm inward.
What types of wardrobes are there with a TV in the middle?
The most common types of structures:
- Built-in. Pros - they take up little space and are very roomy. Disadvantages - poor mobility; it is very difficult to move the structure during the moving process.
- Corpus. They can be moved because they have base walls installed. The side parts with doors are designed for storing things. In the center there is a monitor, and above it there are shelves.
There are also different models of such structures. Among them:
- With a shelf located in the middle. In such models, the device is mounted in the middle of the cabinet. Under it there is a bedside table, and above it there are shelves (can be either open or closed). The side parts consist of compartments with doors. Household items are stored inside them.
- With mounted wall-mounted monitor. A very convenient model that allows you to combine space. The device will hang on the wall and is easy to view. The arrangement of bedside tables and shelves is the same as in the first model.
- Angular. The appearance will be unusual and elegant. The monitor is located next to the cabinet. From the latter you can make a large wardrobe. And the side where the device is located is decorated with shelves on which decorations are placed.
- Closed niche. The device and shelving can be closed with doors, just like the cabinet itself. They open when you need a TV.

Therefore, there is a large choice for owners of compact and spacious apartments. There are several types of wardrobes.
Hull
This is a standard design where the internal shelves, side walls, bottom and surface are fixed to the frame. Door leaves move horizontally along two guides. Furniture can be moved.
Case model
Built-in
In these structures, the role of the side walls, bottom and surface is played by the walls, floor and ceiling. Internal shelves and sections are attached to the walls, and the guides along which the door leaves move are attached to the ceiling and floor.
These models save more space and are cheaper.
Cons: the built-in wardrobe cannot be moved to another place.
Built-in wardrobe
Semi-built
This model is missing some body elements. The cabinet can have only one side wall or a side and a back wall. In this case, they often do without a niche, placing the TV at the desired angle.
Semi-built-in wardrobe
Modular
A modular wardrobe is a set of pieces of furniture, cabinets and stands, assembled together and made in the same style.
One of the side cabinets next to the niche may be wider, the other a little narrower
The most standard option is assembled from three parts: two side sections behind the canvases and open shelving with drawers in the middle.
There are many options for combining modules: corner segments, mezzanines, pencil cases with open shelving, bedside tables and chests of drawers.
Angular
Corner designs utilize often unused space near the door. The interior will look better and not overload the room if high sections with closed canvases are placed at the entrance, and open shelving is closer to the window.

How to choose a wardrobe with a TV in the middle
There are some expert recommendations that you need to listen to in order to choose the right furniture:
- It is necessary to choose in which room such furniture will be located (bedroom, living room). The next step is choosing a location in the room. It is necessary that the furniture fits in size. Therefore, you need to measure the wall. It is important that there is a combination with other furniture.
- You should not buy a small design. You need one that can accommodate all the necessary things. A sliding wardrobe is expensive, so we choose a quality product.
- The niche will make it wide. And the width of the doors should not be more than 100 cm, since their weight will cause damage to the fasteners.
- You need to choose the most reliable materials. If it has running systems, you should not choose plastic wheels. They wear out quickly.
- There are decoration items that go perfectly with the TV. For example, metal in the lining or on the handles of drawers.
Such furniture looks original and can decorate any interior, as is demonstrated in the photo. But you need to choose it correctly.

Should I broadcast it on TV or stage it?
A TV in the bedroom in front of the bed is a classic and most convenient solution for the bedroom. TVs mounted on a support and suspended on a bracket have their disadvantages and advantages.
The bracket significantly saves space in the room and prevents it from accidentally falling. The latter is especially important if there are small children in the house.
At the same time, the bracket will leave unattractive holes in the wall if you want to move the TV to another location.
When choosing a place for equipment, make sure that it is away from other devices operating on the network.
The sun's rays can cause strong glare and interfere with TV viewing. The sun also has a detrimental effect on technology. Try to place the TV in a place away from direct sunlight.
