DIY towel holder in the form of a tree
A wooden hanger will look very good in rooms where the walls are painted in pastel colors. To get started, make a stencil of a tree along with leaves, which will later be hooks. The size of the stencil must match the size of the holder. The stencil is ready, we transfer it to the wall. Paint the tree itself in the color you like; white, black or beige look best. We wait for the design to dry completely, then use a glue gun to glue hooks onto the “leaves”; it is advisable to match them to the color of the tree.
DIY towel holder with durable clothespins
This option is well suited for baths, bathrooms, as well as showers in summer cottages. If you find large wooden clothespins, they will serve as hooks. We glue them to the wall or the inside of the door, painting them in advance in the color you like. Also, clothespins can be glued to construction glue or double-sided tape, but only small and light towels can be hung on them. And for a strong towel holder, you can attach clothespins to neat self-tapping screws; such clothespins will hold terry towels and a bathrobe.
DIY kitchen crafts
If you have an old rake, you can use it to make a handy glass holder. You just need to get rid of the wooden part (the handle) and attach the rake to the wall or cabinet.
For convenience, you can drive a nail into the wall, wrap the rake with wire and hang it on the nail (hook).
You can use coasters as shelves to hold various small items.
To attach this stand to a wall or cabinet, use double-sided tape or nails (these are best used if the stand has holes for hanging the stand).
Another option for a do-it-yourself towel rack for the bathroom
This design will appeal to everyone, but especially to the stronger half of humanity, because it is minimalist and even somewhat brutal. To make a hanger for the bathroom, we need an unnecessary belt made of genuine leather.
The color is your choice, but black and brown belts look very good. In addition to the belt, you will need a planed, strong wooden stick, which can lie in your garden or garage. We coat the finished stick with varnish in two or three layers, the varnish will protect the stick from moisture and various insects.
- We make a notch in the wall.
- The distance from notch to notch should be slightly less than the length of the stick itself. We cut two equal-sized pieces from the belt and fold them in half to form a loop.
- We attach the hinges to the wall using self-tapping screws or self-tapping screws; you can also attach them with nails.
- We pass the stick through the resulting loops.
- This hanger is suitable for the bathroom and bathhouse; it is very durable, allowing it to withstand heavy bath towels.
Types and modifications
Floor-standing
Floor hangers, as mentioned, are only suitable for spacious rooms. Such models often have a stable base (round or square), and on top there may be a pole with rods on which towels are hung.
- For example, like the OBI Saria model, which can be purchased at the Obi hypermarket for 1.4 thousand rubles. It is made of chrome-plated metal, has a round base and three rotating rods mounted on a pole 0.9 meters high.
- The Italian Orte model, made in bronze, has a similar design, but looks more luxurious and is more functional. It has five towel bars (the bottom one is beautifully curved). And on the three protrusions on the side you can hang something else. However, the price of the product is substantial - 27 thousand rubles.
Hangers with several tubular bars are also available. Their advantage is that the design allows you to straighten the towel well, and it dries quickly. An example of such a floor hanger is the Enudden model from Ikea, neat and practical, made of powder-coated steel. There is plenty of space on the five crossbars, and you can also hang something on the side handles. The height is one meter, the width and depth are 0.45 meters. Price – 1.5 thousand rubles.

Wall mounted
Now let's mention wall products. By the way, if there is very little space, then you can attach them to the door. There are the following options for such hangers:
- Bracket with several hooks (which in some models can move along the guides). An example is the chrome model “TATKRAFT Wild Power 006-TK” from a famous European brand. This is a narrow bar with six movable hooks. You can buy such a towel rack for your bathroom for 1000 rubles.
- A “turntable” type design, the movable tubes of which are attached to a fixed vertical bracket. If there is nothing hanging on the hanger, the tube beams can be moved towards the wall, thereby freeing up space. An example is a metal model from Ikea “Grundtal” with four pins of different lengths. They have thickenings at the end so that the towels do not slip off. Price – 649 rubles.
- A rectangular fixed crossbar attached to the wall in two places. This crossbar can be double. Like the “Harmonie” model from the German brand “ArtWelle”, priced at 3.7 thousand rubles.
- Rings and rectangular frames equipped with a movable mount (so that the structure can be lifted). Designed for one towel, but does not provide ideal drying. An example is a rectangular frame chrome model “Esperado” from the Czech brand “FBS” with a width and height of 0.22 and 0.13 meters. Price – 3 thousand rubles.
- Hangers combined with the top shelf. Like the Helmaren model from Ikea, made from solid pine. It is equipped with a crossbar and four hook posts. Costs 1.4 thousand rubles.

Hangers-hooks
Towel hooks are the most budget-friendly option, which can come in different designs and sizes. They are made single, double, triple. Vacuum suction cups are often used for fastening.
- In Ikea and Leroy Merlin there are many different hooks - for every taste, color, size and pocket. For example, in Ikea, five multi-colored plastic hooks-buttons are called “Losshon” and can be attached either with self-tapping screws or with an adhesive backing. The whole set costs 400 rubles. And the double hook “Svartsjön” will cost 200 rubles there. It is more durable - made of powder-coated metal.
- By the way, to prevent the towel from slipping off the hook, use special clips with a loop at the opposite end. They are inexpensive and make life much easier. For example, a chrome-plated “Art Moon Strake” set of five pieces can be purchased for 83 rubles.

Products made of wood and other materials
The most traditional materials for hangers are durable metal (stainless steel is better) and inexpensive plastic, which is not afraid of water, but is not durable. However, sometimes other materials are used, such as wood. For some styles (country, for example), such products are better suited.
For an example, let's go again to Ikea, which offers a very interesting floor-mounted wooden (bamboo) model of a towel rack for the Rogrund bathroom, which combines, in addition to the upper slats with three hanger bars, a comfortable chair. And at the bottom there is another shelf for storage. Height – 1.4 meters, width and depth – 0.4 and 0.44 meters. Price – 3.5 thousand rubles.

The simplest towel rack for the bathroom
For the simplest bathroom hanger, we need a tubular design. You can find such a pipe, for example, in old furniture; it is important that it is a solid metal pipe. We will also need wall mounts, 90 degree pipe connectors, and end caps. The tube size can be whatever suits your needs. Most often - from 1 meter or more, it all depends on the room and your desires.
First, attach it horizontally to the wall. Then we insert tubes of the same size that you cut into them. We connect the ends of the tubes at an angle of 90 degrees using corner fasteners. We insert the tube into the very last connector, secure it with screws and put on the plugs. In the same way, we make and install a structure more complex than this one - we place larger or smaller tubes on top of each other. If you want something spectacular, you can purchase curved and spiral tubes, then you will have an individual hanger. The DIY hanger for towels and linen in the bathroom is ready.
Which material is preferable?
Of course, products can be made from any material, but it is best to use wooden or metal structures. These materials are more reliable than plastic, which becomes unusable after some time, and wood and metal will serve you for years.
In stores, of course, you can buy whatever your heart desires. But often you don’t want to take an ordinary standard hanger or towel holder, and if you order or buy a designer one, it will be very expensive, and besides, you won’t know exactly how and what it is made of, what if the structure breaks in a month or even earlier? ! Therefore, original DIY solutions are very valuable.
- If you make a hanger or towel holder with your own hands, you create products according to your taste, as you want. In addition, you know what material the hanger is made of and how long it will last you. And one more plus: you won’t spend a lot of money, since you will find all the materials at home or in the garage, and if something is missing, you can buy it in the store. And you won’t have to overpay for the master’s work.
- In the bathroom, you should make everything as comfortable as possible by carefully selecting the decor. Holders for things and towels are one of the most important in the bathroom. Therefore, you should pay special attention to their reliability and style, and choose modern materials and design elements to create products. They deserve the same close attention as plumbing, fittings and taps. Such a thing will become not only an indispensable attribute, but also a worthy decoration of the bathroom.
Why you should get a paper towel holder
The bathroom will be comfortable and functional when everything in it is at hand. Especially roll paper towels. This is a truly necessary accessory for human hygiene, which has a large list of advantages. They do not have to be washed, they are affordable and have a pleasant texture. If you make interesting holders, your bathroom will be filled with an atmosphere of comfort.
After all, a handmade product, for example, a doll holder, gives the room homeliness and a warm atmosphere. Practice shows that it is better to hang them on a special holder near the mirror next to the washbasin. Then an outstretched arm will be enough to reach it if necessary.
Such items are sold in many specialty stores. But if you want to show your individuality and sense of style when decorating your bathroom, then be sure to read this article. After all, we will tell you how to make a similar accessory for paper towels with your own hands.
DIY wall-mounted towel holder in the form of a bar
Required materials and tools:
- metal or wooden crossbars;
- old leather belts or strips of leather;
- drill, dowels and screws.
? Step 1: Prepare the crossbars. If you are using wooden ones, then it makes sense to cover them with water-repellent impregnation or varnish; if you are using metal ones, choose pipes made of light stainless alloys. Take care that the edges of the rods are not sharp or jagged. Sand them with sandpaper or a file. You can also use some kind of plastic plugs or soft covers for the ends of the crossbar.
? Step 2: Scrap leather straps are a great option for holders. But instead, you can use strips of leather, thick tape or slings. Cut the belt into 4 parts. Fold one part in half and use an awl or drill to make a through hole closer to the ends. The holes may already be on the belt.
? Step 3: Drill two holes in the wall. The distance between them should be 10-15 cm less than the length of the rod. Drive a dowel into the hole, then attach a folded piece of strap and screw it in with a screw.
? Step 4 . Insert the bar into the straps. The towel holder is ready to use! By the way, you can hang rolls of paper towels on this rod-shaped holder.
Leather strap holder
A stylish solution for storing paper towels. All you need is to hang the roll on leather straps nailed to the wall and a wooden stick.
Necessary materials:
- Awl and hammer or hole punch for leather
- 2 leather straps, each 50 cm long and 3.5 cm wide
- Stick (with a round cross-section) 43 cm long and 2.5 cm in diameter
- Rivets and setter
- Drill and screws
- Plastic dowels (optional)
Step-by-step instruction:
Step 1: Punching the Holes
Using an awl and a hammer or a hole punch, make 5 small holes in the leather strap as shown in the picture.
That is, on one side of the strap it is 5 cm, 7.5 cm and 18 cm, on the other it is 5 cm and 18 cm. Do the same with the other strap.
Step 2: Fold the straps
Fold the first strap in half, line up the holes ( 18cm from each end ) and install the rivet. Repeat these steps for the second strap.
Step 3: Attach the straps to the wall
- Place the strap against the wall so that the hole (which is 7.5 cm from the edge) is in the place on the wall where you will attach the strap.
- Fold back the front layer of the strap.
- Through the same hole, mark a point on the wall with a pencil - a place for the screw. Set the strap aside and drill a hole in the wall for a screw at the marked point (use a dowel if necessary).
- Repeat these steps for the other belt, to do this, mark a point clearly on the same horizontal line, at a distance of approximately 45 cm from the first, taking into account the length of the wooden stick.
Now connect the straps to the remaining holes (that is, 5 cm from the edge) and insert a rivet, the same on the other.
Step 4: Hanging up the towels
All that's left to do is place the paper towels between the straps and thread the wooden stick through the first strap, the towel roll sleeve, and the second strap.
Now the towels are convenient to use. Changing an empty roll is also not difficult.
Wall mounted towel holder in the form of a ring
Required materials and tools:
- metal ring;
- old leather belt or strip of leather;
- drill, dowels and screws.
? Step 1. Cut a piece of belt or leather 10-15 cm long. Fold it in half and make a through hole closer to the ends with an awl or drill.
? Step 2: Make a loop around the ring with your belt. If desired, you can use glue to prevent the ring from rotating in the loop.
? Step 3. Drill a hole in the wall, drive in a dowel and screw the leather loop with the ring.
