In order to find an option that combines functionality and originality of design, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the rating of the 11 best recommended cabinet furniture factories. Poll: Which style of furniture do you prefer?
What is cabinet furniture
The name “cabinet furniture” comes up often, but many do not know what this concept means and what is special about such options. Models of this type are also called modular. They differ in that the body is assembled from several parts: the side walls and the rear wall. The convenience of such structures lies in their easy movement and the possibility of using them both as part of a set and as an independent piece of furniture.
The best budget sofa manufacturers
This category includes factories aimed primarily at the mass consumer. This definition is rather arbitrary, since every major furniture manufacturer tries to produce products in different price segments.
Borovichi furniture
One of the largest furniture production facilities in Russia is located in the Novgorod region, famous for its forests and carpentry masters. The workshops are equipped with modern equipment that allows us to produce upholstered furniture of European quality on a mass scale. The company's products are in high demand not only in the northwestern region of the country, but are also exported abroad.
The company produces furniture using chipboard, MDF, and birch plywood as a load-bearing frame. A large variety of woven materials, artificial and natural leather are used for upholstery. The corporate style is characterized by strict forms and design in soothing colors.
The company's range of upholstered furniture includes sets, straight and corner sofas, and armchairs. In design, the creators' preferences were divided between classic and modern design. All products are distinguished by convenience, reliability and high build quality.
Pinskdrev
The Belarusian holding company was born back in 1880, having survived all the cataclysms of the 20th century.
Now it includes a number of enterprises covering the entire production cycle:
- harvesting and primary processing of wood;
- production of plywood and particle boards;
- sliced veneer plant;
- furniture factory.
The company employs almost 7,000 people. 16 representative offices and 112 company stores have been opened in the CIS countries. The successful work of furniture makers from Pinsk has been repeatedly noted at prestigious international exhibitions with honorary diplomas and certificates. Deliveries of finished products are carried out to 130 countries.
The enterprises are equipped with modern equipment that allows them to develop and put into production new collections. Today, about 40% of the furniture produced in Belarus goes to the retail chain under the Pinskdrev brand.
The holding's range of upholstered furniture is represented by collections of different styles:
- classical;
- neoclassical;
- modern;
- loft;
- Italian;
- Provençal.
Products for general consumption are made on the basis of laminated chipboard, MDF, pine or birch wood. More expensive models use natural oak parts. The company produces straight and corner sofas, sets of upholstered furniture of various configurations. The upholstery is made of wear-resistant fabrics, artificial and natural leather.
Kinds
The following types of cabinet furniture can be distinguished:
Modular system
The special characteristics of this variant follow from the name of the species. Such products consist of independent modules that the buyer can select and combine at will.
This is a convenient and practical option that helps create a cozy interior. At the same time, modular systems have an affordable price range with good quality.
Set
The difference between the headset and the previous version is that each detail is an integral part of a ready-made set already created by the manufacturer in a certain style. The advantage of this choice is that the elements of the headset fit perfectly together and complement each other. At the same time, it will be difficult to make changes to the picture of the headset without disturbing the balance, because innovations may not be in harmony with the previously created interior.
To order
The most expensive, but no less popular type of cabinet models. This option allows you to realize the wishes of the consumer, taking into account the area and features of the room and equip it in the most harmonious way. Based on the buyer's order, a project is created, approved by the customer and implemented at the factory.
How to choose a sofa for daily sleep
To choose the best sofa, you need to take into account all the criteria. Otherwise, the risk of purchasing a low-quality product will increase.
Folding mechanism
The mechanism for folding out a sofa for sleeping is the first thing you should pay attention to when choosing upholstered furniture. For daily use, you should not consider cheap sofas. As a rule, they have a fixed structure and are not able to transform into a double bed.
The following folding mechanisms are considered the best and most reliable options.
- Book. This is the simplest and most popular design that has been tested by time. The sofa seat rises and falls with the backrest. To decompose it must be moved away from the wall.
- Dolphin. This type of furniture consists of two parts. One component in the assembled position is located under the other. To unfold the sofa, you will need to roll out the lower part using rollers and then raise it to the required height. It has a higher price than models with the Book mechanism.
- Accordion. This design divides the sleeping area into 3 parts. They not only unfold, but also extend longitudinally. The accordion is compact when folded, making it great for small spaces.
- Eurobook. To unfold the furniture, you need to move the seat forward and release the backrest. This model is ideal for daily use, as it has linen drawers. Moreover, the Eurobook is practical and long-lasting.
Filler
Upholstered furniture intended for daily use must have spring or polyurethane foam filling. They provide comfortable sleep, a gentle effect on the spine and a long service life.
The best option is considered to be a spring filler. As a rule, it consists of blocks that have pronounced orthopedic properties. The service life of such filler is approximately 10 years. At the same time, it allows you to evenly distribute the load, can withstand any weight and is convenient to use.
In second place is polyurethane foam. This material is very similar to foam rubber. It has a porous structure that consists almost of air. Polyurethane foam has good elasticity, water resistance and practicality. The service life is approximately 7 years.
Important! It is worth considering that the quality of the filler directly depends on the manufacturer. Some companies use cheap raw materials, which render upholstered furniture unusable after just 2-3 years. Moreover, during use, low-quality filler will cause discomfort.
Therefore, when choosing a sofa, you need to consider samples of the filling so as not to make a mistake with the purchase.
Recommendations for choosing furniture
Having decided on the type of cabinet model, before choosing a manufacturer, you need to come to an understanding of what other requirements there are for the product.
Material
There are 3 main materials used for the manufacture of cabinet furniture:
- Solid wood. Manufacturers produce models from solid oak, pine, alder, birch, and beech. Wood products have the best reviews, because... This is a natural high quality product. The disadvantage of the wooden option is its high cost.
- Chipboard/chipboard with veneer coating. Most popular models are made from this material. This product is distinguished not only by good performance characteristics, but also by reasonable cost.
- MDF. In terms of properties, the material is close to the previous version with the only drawback - the use of formaldehyde in the manufacture of products. At the same time, MDF models do not lose their popularity.
Dimensions
The second parameter is worth paying attention to. The dimensions depend on the dimensions of the room, the design and arrangement of furniture, as well as the purpose of its acquisition. In some cases, you can use the standard offers of the manufacturer, and in some cases an individual approach is required.
Design
Of course, the purchased product must fit harmoniously into the interior being created.
Quality
This is not only the material that was considered as an independent selection criterion. But also the quality of assembly, fasteners, and fittings. For example, plastic parts made from high-quality plastic will last longer than accessories made from cheap material. We recommend asking the seller for documents confirming the quality and declared characteristics.
Functional
Pay attention not only to the appearance of the product, but also what functions you plan to purchase the product with. Issues such as sufficient space for storing things and the convenience of locating storage sections are important.

They can also be indicated on a separate coupon or check.
Availability of certificates

Is the furniture cheap, but/or high quality?
Do you think it is possible to buy cheap sausage so that it is tasty, natural and healthy? Yes and no. Cheap - yes. But everything else is not. When buying sausage, we are aware that for 30 hryvnia you cannot buy anything decent in principle. Why should it be different with furniture? Economic laws apply equally to all goods.
But with food it’s easier. The state takes care of our interests and forces the manufacturer to indicate the composition of the product, shelf life, GMOs, etc. On products similar to the real thing, you can read: nectar - instead of juice, spread - instead of butter, or “cheese product” - instead of cheese. Unfortunately, the state has not yet gotten around to furniture. If furniture makers were forced to indicate the real “composition” of their products, how and from what it (the furniture) is made... Many manufacturers would have to indicate “Furniture Product” in the title, not furniture. At the same time, price has long ceased to be an indicator of quality. You can’t just go into a store and buy inexpensive, high-quality furniture. It must be selected by carefully checking not only the furniture, but also the seller. Today we will talk about how to choose upholstered furniture. Furniture of economy class and mid-price segment. The so-called furniture “for the people”. For example, furniture for “servants of the people” needs to be chosen differently. Different prices, different quality – different furniture. Perhaps we’ll talk about premium furniture another time. Now – about furniture “for everyone”. And about the most problematic group of furniture - upholstered. When you buy cabinet furniture, all the main components of quality are “in sight”. They can be seen and even touched. The likelihood of buying low-quality furniture is much lower. Although... there are nuances. As a last resort, you can remember the Ukrainian proverb: “Bachili ochi scho kupuvali.” With upholstered furniture everything is much more complicated. The main components of the sofa are carefully hidden under the upholstery. Namely, the quality of furniture depends on them. When you can’t see anything, you can only believe the seller’s promises or hope that you are lucky. Information from the seller. Has anyone ever deceived you before? The state, newspapers, television, store clerks, work colleagues, etc. You probably arrived in Ukraine quite recently (for example, last night) and have not yet had time to face real life. Another reasonable explanation is possible - you are an alien. Speaking seriously, you shouldn’t hope that the seller will tell you the truth. At best it will be a half-truth (they will simply keep silent about the most important thing), at worst it will be a “blatant lie.” The fact is that you and the seller have diametrically opposed interests. The seller’s task is to sell furniture “at any cost.” Your task is to buy a beautiful and inexpensive sofa of good quality. The seller sells you what you want without being tied to reality. He also has a family and he also wants to eat. He's probably telling you the truth... But it's better to check.
You'll be lucky. If you think that you will be lucky, we can reassure you. The odds are approximately the same as in the lottery - 1:1000000. Choosing furniture. The components of quality are a secret that is hidden from the buyer. For a professional furniture maker, this is no secret. There are a number of indirect signs by which you can determine the quality of furniture. Let's look at them in more detail. Conventionally, upholstered furniture can be divided into the following components: Frame. This is the “skeleton” of the sofa onto which everything else is built. The soft part is what you sit or sleep on. The durability of the sofa and its comfort depend on the quality of the soft part. Base. This is what is located under the soft part. Allows you to change comfort characteristics. Make the sofa softer, more elastic, harder, etc. Some manufacturers talk about orthopedic properties... More about this in the “orthopedic sofa” section. Floorings. This is what is located between the soft part and the upholstery. The comfort of the furniture is also determined. Transformation mechanism. Upholstery. Of all the above, we can only see the upholstery, the transformation mechanism and... that's it. The remaining components will have to be determined by an indirect method - the way furniture makers do.
Frame. A lot depends on the frame: the durability of your furniture, whether the sofa will creak and whether it will be “environmentally friendly”. Will he become a member of your family, or an enemy that you need to get rid of, but there is no money... The design of the frame is determined by the design of the furniture, the transformation mechanism, functional features, etc. Fundamentally, it can be divided into two functional components: the load-bearing part and everything else. Bearing part. The frame must be strong. The whole family loves to sit on the sofa. According to GOST (GOST is the standard in accordance with which, before perestroika, furniture was made), the load-bearing part is made of hardwood (birch, oak, beech, etc.). In practice, hardwoods can only be found in some premium furniture. For the middle price category, ALL Ukrainian manufacturers use pine timber. The strength of the frame is ensured by the use of timber of a larger cross-section. As a rule, no less than 40x60. In principle, coniferous trees instead of hardwoods are worse, but “not fatal.” When using high-quality dried timber, you can get quite decent furniture. But here the first problem awaits us - undried wood.
Natural wood. Depending on the degree of drying, lumber is divided into: joiner's board (timber); dry board (timber) “raw” board. Carpentry board. For furniture, only “joint boards (beams)” are used. This is wood dried to 8-10% moisture. With this content, natural wood does not give off excess moisture and does not absorb the missing from the environment. Wood board is the most expensive, but also the highest quality and most stable material. Dry board. Material used in construction: windows, floors, trim, door frames, etc. Permissible humidity – up to 15%. "Raw" board. These are lumber of natural moisture that have not undergone a drying process. Humidity can reach 30-70%. The cost of lumber is directly proportional to the degree of drying. What happens to furniture made from construction boards? During the first year, the wood will gradually give up “excess” moisture and dry to a moisture content of 8-9%. In this case, the frame is slightly deformed. The furniture will not fall apart, but it may creak. In the case of using undried wood, the consequences are more noticeable. The deformation of the wood can be so significant that it “undermines” the adhesive seams at the joints. This will have a significant impact on the strength of the frame. And in the phrase “The frame may creak,” feel free to change the word “may” to “will” or “will definitely be.” Furniture in the mid-price category contains more than 50% timber with a moisture content of 15%. In economy class there is no “joiner’s timber” at all. And the most economical ones (up to 30%) work with undried wood. Check the quality of the supporting part. Checking the humidity. The joinery board is always warm to the touch. Even if the temperature in the furniture showroom is below zero (and this is not uncommon, especially in winter). Construction board is slightly cool to the touch. A “raw” board is always cold (and sometimes “wet”) even on the hottest day. Find the open parts of the frame and place your palm on them. These can be guides for rollers, vertical racks in a niche for linen, a mattress frame (eurobook or book), etc. Chipboard. But the previous problem is “flowers”, compared to the next one – chipboard. We will not say that chipboard is bad. Only people who don’t understand anything about furniture say that. Almost all cabinet furniture is made from laminated chipboard. And in the middle price category there is simply nothing to replace this material. Of course, furniture made from natural wood is both better and more useful (and more expensive). A rhetorical question from the series: “What is better, to be healthy and rich or poor and sick?”
In upholstered furniture, the main problem is not the laminated chipboard, but the “sanded” or “raw” (uncoated) chipboard. Let’s first consider what chipboard is and why “IT’S BAD.” Chipboard is made from wood waste using carboformaldehyde resins as binders. For a long time (up to 10 years), chipboard releases free formaldehyde. Formaldehyde, in turn, causes cancer, allergies, asthma, etc. Formaldehyde is classified as a carcinogenic substance that is especially dangerous to human health. You can easily find more detailed information about this substance on the Internet. Environmental standards. In Europe (and then here too) strict standards were adopted that determined the maximum permissible content of formaldehyde emission (release) from various materials used for premises - emission class E. There are three classes of formaldehyde emission: E1, E2 and E3. For residential premises - only class E1 - formaldehyde content no more than 8 mg per 100 g of dry matter (in Europe) and 10 mg (CIS countries). The chipboard manufacturer is obliged to check each batch of goods for compliance with class E1. But the emission class determines the formaldehyde content in the material, not the air you breathe. For example, a bedside table made of chipboard in a room of 50 square meters. and a wardrobe + bedroom with bedside tables and chest of drawers for 9 sq.m. release varying amounts of formaldehyde. To determine the actual content of harmful substances in the air, another indicator is used - MPC (maximum permissible concentration). Shows the content of harmful substances in the air. Ideally, the maximum permissible concentration is measured in a specific room. But the standards include average indicators. The maximum permissible concentration for formaldehyde is 0.035 mg per cubic meter. It is this figure that can be seen in the sanitary and hygienic report - the main document confirming the compliance of furniture with environmental standards. With a high degree of probability, we can say that E1 class chipboard emits no more than 0.035 mg of formaldehyde per cubic meter of air. Although, of course, the ratio of the amount of chipboard and the volume of a particular room is important. If we talk about “real life”, the situation is a little different for the worse. MPCs are standards and test methods developed for naturally ventilated premises. Slots and gaps in windows TURNS out that this is not so bad. The room is ventilated naturally. But renovations in a modern apartment begin with the installation of metal-plastic windows, which not only retain heat, but also hermetically seal the room, excluding its natural ventilation. Formaldehyde is released from furniture continuously - every minute and every second. At some point in time, its concentration may exceed the maximum permissible standards (MPC). Especially if the room is small and there is a lot of furniture. Or when it’s winter (natural disaster) - the radiators are heated, the windows are closed, the temperature is + 30. The higher the temperature, the more formaldehyde the chipboard emits. Don't forget to ventilate the room at least twice a day. Especially in winter. Let's consider the main “sources” of formaldehyde release. Laminated chipboard has a protective coating over the entire surface that does not allow formaldehyde to pass through. Release occurs through the open ends of parts and technological holes. The area of the ends is no more than 5% of the total area of the product. But this is enough for the concentration of formaldehyde to exceed the permissible standards (in the case when the chipboard does not correspond to class E1).
If you seal the ends of the parts with an edge, the chipboard will become practically harmless. As our furniture makers like to say - “environmentally friendly”. The release of formaldehyde through technological openings is so insignificant that it can be ignored. It is for this reason that a good manufacturer of cabinet furniture ALWAYS covers the ends of the parts with an edge. Niche for linen. But let's return to upholstered furniture. ONLY a niche for linen is made from laminated chipboard. At the same time, many manufacturers cover the ends with fabric (for beauty), rather than with an edge. The buyer can see the niche for linen. The open ends of the chipboard raise “unnecessary” questions. Cover them with cloth. Can be sealed with an edge. But this is an unnecessary technological operation that increases the cost of the product. At the same time, the real increase in cost is only 10-15 UAH! The most economical manufacturers make a niche for linen from unlined chipboard. “For beauty” - they are covered with cloth. Sanded chipboard plus fabric is cheaper than laminated chipboard. This “saving” increases the area of uncoated chipboard by an ORDER. The manufacturer saves 10-20 UAH, and the buyer receives 10 TIMES more formaldehyde (see below). Attention! If the niche for linen is made of uncoated chipboard, this is the highest degree of savings, taken to the point of absurdity. 20 hryvnia savings even for the CHEAPEST sofa is not savings, but... You can draw a logical conclusion about WHAT and HOW such a sofa is made of. If you are not suicidal, it is better to refrain from purchasing. “The chicken is killing it.” Furniture – just like that Let’s talk about what’s hidden under the upholstery. And hidden underneath is uncoated chipboard, which is much more “dangerous” than laminated (coated) chipboard. Uncoated chipboard does not have a decorative surface coating and emits formaldehyde FROM ITS ENTIRE AREA - 100%. Of course, you should be reassured by the fact that formaldehyde is released 50 TIMES MORE, but within normal limits (class E1). However, this already poses a real danger to your health. Manufacturers of upholstered furniture use uncoated chipboard of 2 types: the finished product is a “raw” board. intermediate product (blank for laminated chipboard). Ready product. This is the final product, usually intended for construction. May not correspond to class E1. Has class E2 or even E3. It costs 20% less than “polished” chipboard. Intermediate product. This is a blank intended for subsequent lamination. All laminated board (chipboard) in Ukraine corresponds to emission class E1. Consequently, the semi-finished product (blank) cannot fail to comply with E1. Before lamination, the board is sanded. Hence one of the names used by furniture makers is sanded chipboard. Sanded chipboard costs a little more than a “raw” board, but is 2-3 times cheaper than laminated chipboard. When a manufacturer uses polished chipboard of class E1, this is a forced measure caused by the desire to fit into the “Procrustean bed” of economy class prices.
Uncoated (polished) chipboard Lined (laminated) chipboard But if the manufacturer uses E2 class chipboard, this is already a crime. The formaldehyde content in an E2 class board is up to 30 mg per 100 g of dry matter. Three times higher than class E1. Although, formally, furniture makers do not violate the law. Ukrainian standards ALLOW the use of E2 class materials for residential furniture. More stringent standards (class E1) apply only to children's furniture. As we said earlier, the state “hasn’t gotten around to furniture yet.” There are more important and serious issues. For example, on cigarettes, we can already read in capital letters: “Chicken kills.” It would be nice to have such an inscription for furniture made of E2 class chipboard. If it is not possible to revise outdated standards adopted 30 (!) years ago, why not simply warn... Why do we still have standards that do not even remotely correspond to European ones? The question, although rhetorical, has a logical explanation. At the time of adoption of the standards, none of the Ukrainian chipboard manufacturers could produce E1 class boards. The state was faced with a rather serious question: adopt European standards (class E1) and close all factories producing chipboards, or make a compromise. Class E2 - no big deal. The main thing is the children. For them – E1. This is our future. Let them grow up healthy and happy. And let the rest of the population support the domestic manufacturer. Today the situation has changed radically. All Ukrainian manufacturers of laminated chipboard, thanks to multimillion-dollar investments from foreign investors, are able to produce high-quality E1 class boards. Perhaps someday officials will find out about this and change the existing standards for furniture. For now, we can only hope that the furniture manufacturer itself will show consciousness and will not skimp on your health. Moreover, the difference in cost between polished chipboard of class E1 and “raw” chipboard of class E2 does not exceed 20-30 hryvnia for one piece of furniture.
Raw chipboard. Homogeneous structure. Sanded chipboard. The top layers are small chips. You can distinguish chipboard by its appearance. The sanded board has three layers of different densities. Raw slab - only one. This is clearly visible in the cut. But to see this, you will have to open the sofa. Probably, the furniture showroom will be against it... The presence of a certificate of compliance of sanded chipboard with class E1 can serve as some consolation for you, but nothing more. Firstly , the manufacturer can only declare the use of this material. What material he will put specifically in your sofa is unknown. Use an indirect sign of evaluation - if the manufacturer saves on everything, he probably saved on chipboard. Secondly , chipboard manufacturers (domestic) do not always comply with environmental standards. In a particular batch, the actual formaldehyde content may differ slightly from the declared one. An increased content of formaldehyde gives off an odor. Furniture made from E1 class materials has no odor. The smell can only be detected when the formaldehyde content exceeds 15 mg. This is 2 times higher than the norm (European standard). But how much “above the norm” really is, two or THREE times, you cannot determine by smell. Better refrain from purchasing. Plywood frame. Is there an alternative to unfaced chipboard? Of course there is. Firstly, you can use laminated chipboard. Secondly - plywood. “First of all,” no one does. The cost of laminated chipboard is comparable to the cost of plywood. Good furniture uses plywood for the frame. Unfortunately, plywood has a significant impact on the price of the finished product. It can increase by 10-30% and go beyond your financial capabilities. The only advice is for the child - do not save. Have you decided to buy environmentally friendly furniture with a plywood frame? We are sincerely happy for you. But, unfortunately, some furniture makers only declare a plywood frame. You pay “for plywood” and get chipboard. As we already said, everything is hidden behind the upholstery. You have to take their word for it. In fact, checking the manufacturer is simple. There are two ways to check. Method one . Try raising your chair. A square meter of chipboard weighs about 15 kg. You will feel it immediately. And you can easily lift a plywood chair with one hand. Let us clarify once again - the chair needs to be checked. In a sofa, a significant part of the weight can be a spring mattress or a transformation mechanism. You can't check the weight of a sofa. Second way to check. Furniture manufacturers know very well the difference between plywood and chipboard. If a frame made of chipboard needs to be reliably hidden, then with plywood the situation is the opposite. Why hide a competitive advantage from the buyer? Firstly, if the frame is made of plywood, they will definitely tell you about it. Secondly, manufacturers of upholstered furniture deliberately leave the internal parts of the frame open so that the buyer can see the plywood. An indirect sign that works 100%. Remember that a beautifully sheathed frame is “hidden” sanded chipboard. None of the furniture makers will NEVER “beautify” the internal parts of the frame just like that, especially when there is “nothing to hide” from the buyer. Nuances. A full-fledged 3-seater sofa has several long parts. As a rule, these are front and rear drawers, 1.8-2 m long. The standard size of plywood is 1.52x1.52m. For the king - “it won’t be enough.” As a result, even in expensive furniture, 2 parts (drawers) are made of chipboard. The most conscious manufacturers use laminated chipboard (the ecology is the same as plywood). The rest - you know which one. Of course, there is another format of plywood - 2.5x1.25m. But this is an export option, 20% more expensive. For the sake of two parts, should I buy more expensive plywood of a different format? Oddly enough, some manufacturers do this... but not in the mid-price category. Chipboard – other problems. The chipboard frame has several other quality problems. Staples. The frame parts are connected with brackets. The same as for a stapler, only bigger and thicker. But the principle is the same. The metal bracket holds perfectly in plywood and natural wood. In chipboard consisting of pressed chips, the bracket holds less well. You will be able to notice this already in the second year of use of the furniture. Humidity. The next problem is that chipboard is “afraid” of moisture. And if laminated chipboard absorbs moisture only through the open ends, then unlined chipboard of the upholstered furniture frame absorbs moisture over its entire area. If you do not plan to use the sofa in the bathroom, this is not important. There is not enough moisture in the air in your living room or bedroom to “spoil” your furniture.
But another problem arises. It is important where the sofa was before it came to your home. If you are outdoors, in snow and rain (and it is in such conditions that economy-class furniture is sold at various bazaars and open trading floors), be sure (100%) that the frame of your sofa has already absorbed a sufficient amount of moisture. At best, such a sofa will creak. At worst, it will simply fall apart, but not right away... Especially for those who like to buy “ready-made furniture” - NEVER buy a ready-made “outdoor” sofa. Order exactly the same one, in the same fabric, but have it brought to you from the factory, and not from the market.
Glued frame. Unfortunately, the problems with the frame do not end there. In good furniture, all frame parts should be glued. Firstly, adhesive seams create additional strength. Secondly, the glued frame does not creak. Unfortunately, some about this technological operation. You will only be able to see the adhesive seams on some models. For example, a Euro-book seat. Many manufacturers do not cover the frame. Because it can only be seen by turning the sofa seat over. A normal buyer never does this. He doesn't even realize that the seat can be easily raised and turned over. Joining a wooden beam onto a tenon with traces of glue is a good indicator. At the same time, you can check the moisture content of the wood used. In other models of upholstered furniture, you will have to take the seller’s word for it or hope that you are lucky. Indirect verification method. If the Euro-book model has a glued frame, it is highly likely that it is glued for other models as well. Technologies of deception. Let's look at the main tricks practiced by furniture makers. Our furniture uses laminated chipboard - environmentally friendly and absolutely harmless. This only means that the sofa has a niche for linen made of laminated chipboard. Or decorative overlays, sides, etc. And the rest, hidden parts of the frame, are made of uncoated chipboard. Calling it environmentally friendly is a bit of a stretch. “Our furniture is made of laminated chipboard, natural wood and plywood” Half-truth. They simply “forgot” to mention about sanded chipboard. On the one hand, our furniture makers say that chipboard is “no big deal.” But at the same time they forget to tell the buyer about it, and cover it up with upholstery in the product.
In this phrase, laminated chipboard - see above, and natural wood is the load-bearing part of the frame (pine beams). I wonder what the plywood is “doing” here? Everything is very simple. Not all models of upholstered furniture can have all parts made from polished chipboard. The manufacturer is FORCED to make parts of complex shapes and curved elements from plywood. But everything else is chipboard. This is exactly how plywood furniture “appears”... A half-truth is when you don’t want to deceive, but you can’t tell the truth. One of the most common methods of selling furniture. Some information to their sellers, and some - even to their dealers. A case from one's life. The head of the sales department of one well-known Ukrainian furniture company, when asked by the dealer about the materials used in upholstered furniture, said: “Our brand is quite well known in Ukraine. Our competitors are constantly copying our models. The materials we use are commercial information. If it becomes available to competitors, they will begin to copy not only our design, but also our quality...” Can you imagine what one furniture maker says to another? Perhaps an inexperienced buyer may believe these “fairy tales”. But not a furniture maker. Especially when it comes to OUR furniture makers, who, as it turns out, do not know how QUALITY furniture is made and copy the quality from their competitors. Unfortunately, the quality of furniture is determined by the buyer himself. He wants CHEAPER. And they give him what he wants. What problems? The sofa fell apart - this is a consequence. The reason was that they wanted “sausage for 30 UAH.” Dear gentlemen, buyers of upholstered furniture, please remember one “iron” rule: If the manufacturer does not tell you what materials he made the furniture from, or gets off with general phrases (quality, ecology, highly elastic, orthopedic, etc.) - this is not lack of information, but quite the opposite. A little sad example, but on topic: “It’s either good or nothing about the dead.” When there is nothing good, “nothing” remains. In other words, what they are really telling you is that the furniture is made from the cheapest materials and is of appropriate quality. Isn't it useful information? “The frame of our furniture is made of plywood” Remember the “half-truth” technology? A furniture seller may not know what or how the furniture he sells is made of. Especially when we are talking about a dealer, and not about a manufacturer’s company showroom. You will never see the clause “plywood frame” in the contract. And then, after the purchase... you never know what anyone said... Check it out. You already know how. Epilogue. Let's return to where we started: “Is it possible to make good sausage (and not a “sausage product”), tasty, natural, healthy, from MEAT... for 30 UAH?” Sausage, maybe, is okay. But furniture – NO! Cheap furniture is ALWAYS low quality. For $150, even theoretically, it is impossible to make a high-quality sofa. Conclusion. Cheap furniture DOES NOT NEED to be checked. The diagnosis can be established without leaving home, only for the price in the online store. Axiom No. 1 – high-quality furniture ALWAYS costs more. We hope we haven’t “discovered America”? Axiom No. 2 - a higher price, in our country, is not a GUARANTEE of higher quality. You may pay not for quality, but for brand, advertising, expensive rent in the city center, etc. and so on. Quality must be chosen. You already know how to choose a frame. The remaining components of quality are in the next article.

General recommendations
- Which kitchens are better – Russian or European-made? Furniture from domestic manufacturers is good because it is adapted for small spaces and is focused on the implementation of individual projects. In addition, it is more affordable (especially against the backdrop of the rising dollar and euro) and at the same time comparable in quality to furniture from European factories. Moreover, most large manufacturers work on Italian/German equipment, use their own technologies, materials and fittings, and imitate the “Europeans” in design.
- When choosing a kitchen, ask about the manufacturer of the fittings and the warranty period for them. Good hinges are designed for at least 80-100 thousand opening and closing cycles.
- Do you feel that the designer is not competent and attentive enough? In this case, it is worth changing either the designer or the manufacturer, since the kitchen design stage is almost the most important and the likelihood of errors must be minimized.
- If possible, you should buy a kitchen from a branded store, not a dealer/franchise store, or at least from an official sales representative.
- When choosing a kitchen manufacturer, do not hesitate to ask that the assemblers are full-time employees of the company who have undergone uniform training and certification.
- To minimize the likelihood of errors in a design project, it is advisable to be well versed: study the principles of kitchen planning and estimate layout options yourself, for example, in our free online designer.

Presence of a pungent odor
First of all, furniture should not have a sharp, pronounced chemical smell, which appears when low-quality laminated chipboard is used. After all, it is important for all of us to be surrounded by environmentally friendly pieces of furniture.
Important! All furniture made from laminated chipboard must have a hygienic safety certificate; the seller must present it when purchasing the product. If there is no document, it is better to refuse this product.
For residential premises, it is allowed to use laminated chipboards marked E1; if the value E2 and higher is indicated, such material cannot be used for the manufacture of furniture. A pungent odor characterizes a low-quality slab that contains formaldehyde levels that are exceeded. This will affect the health of all family members; not only headaches, but also serious disorders in the human body can become constant companions.
Permissible formaldehyde content for CIS countries: 10 mg per 100 g of slab. In Europe, the requirements are stricter: 8 mg per 100 g of chipboard
The smell in products appears when the formaldehyde content is from 14 mg per 100 g of plate
