For a long time, furniture items were made from natural materials. With the development of technology, furniture began to be made from plastic, glass, and particle boards, but classic wood has always been in demand.
Kitchens made from solid wood look luxurious, original and expensive. They are decorated with stained glass, patina, painting, and decoupage. Each product has a unique pattern and texture: to choose an option for your apartment, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with the main types of materials and methods of decoration.
Materials for manufacturing kitchen sets
Natural raw materials for the kitchen have their own advantages: they are environmentally friendly and do not emit harmful substances into the atmosphere, as chipboard does. Due to the spectacular decorative characteristics and high price of the material, solid wood kitchens are considered expensive, but they fit perfectly into classic and antique interior styles. Depending on the type of material, the pattern, color and other indicators will vary.

Ash kitchens: natural beauty
The first thing that can be said about kitchen furniture made of ash is that it is reliable and functional. The breed is considered moisture resistant and has no tendency to deform or age. Depending on the chosen decor, ash furniture fits into both traditional and modern kitchen design.
The set itself, as well as its facades, are made from ash. Several advantages of this solution:
- the plasticity of the rock allows you to create smooth and strict lines and shapes;
- ash emphasizes the nobility and beauty of kitchen furniture;
- headsets can withstand high loads.
The rock has pronounced large pores, so the process of polishing and varnishing becomes more complicated. The true color of ash is light yellow, but the manufacturer uses additional materials to give the species different shades.
Kitchen in wooden style
A lot is known about handcrafted kitchen design and designers take pride in it as it is one of the parts of the house where people can express their creativity in cooking and basically many households make their kitchen the most enjoyable part of their home.
The next pictures we will show you are kitchens that showcase the different types of wooden kitchen designs.
The kitchen represents the heart of any home, whether modern or traditional in nature. This is the space where we all tend to gather every day, for breakfast, lunch, dinner and other special occasions. Kitchen decorating is becoming easier and easier every day with new appliances coming into the technological market to help us in our daily culinary arts.
However, modernity has retained the basic primary requirements for the kitchen itself: modern sleek finishes, modern gadgets, all designed to improve our lifestyle and reduce the actual time spent cooking.
The kitchen is a very functional area, but while you're thinking about functionality, don't forget about the visual impact. Functionality relies mainly on kitchen countertops. Being a kitchen workhorse, they need to be durable. Recommended materials are granite and quartz, some other less durable materials can also be used such as wood, stainless steel, aluminum, laminate or even glass.
Worktops can be ordered and pre-fabricated as long as you provide the exact measurements. You will find a variety of thicknesses and finishes, and each of the selected surfaces has its own properties. They are distinguished by water and heat resistance, as well as wear resistance during operation. The color and pattern should match the overall theme of the wooden kitchen design.
Unknown to many homeowners, flooring provides the kitchen with visual balance. You can also use wood or laminate materials for your flooring or more durable ceramics and tiles.
But for those who are in love with the culinary arts, time spent in it is essential. This is where the details come into perspective: texture, shade, material, lighting, overall decor, greenery, ambience, all contribute to creating the perfect environment where everyone finds a “home.” Wood has been and hopefully will continue to be a major material used in kitchen design due to its enormous attributes: intricate texture, cozy warm feel and many varieties.
Kitchens made of oak: solidity in the foreground
Oak is considered the most popular solid wood for making furniture. Its strength is so high that finished products have a long service life. Oak sets come in different colors, because the manufacturer uses certain compounds to change the color. Oak kitchens have the following advantages:
- solidity – even the simplest models look presentable;
- possibility of processing - you can use different coating agents, but the wood will not deform or absorb moisture;
- nobility, environmental friendliness and safety are the main qualities of oak;
- resistance to mechanical stress - this is what helps extend the life of the headsets.
Oak furniture in the kitchen is suitable for modern, classic and Provence styles. Luxurious shades, imitation of antiquity, extravagance - all this helps the breed look impressive and of high quality.
Solid wood kitchens - 111 photos of stylish modular designs in the kitchen interior
Creating the interior of a kitchen room will require time and effort, since this process is labor-intensive in nature. To achieve success, you will need not only high-quality renovation work, but also tastefully selected furniture. The last element is the one that gets the most attention. This is a key element in the final style picture.
They personify the nobility and high quality characteristics of a kitchen made of natural wood. They are increasingly used due to their environmental friendliness, durability and long service life. There are a number of features in this matter that are worth paying attention to.
Modular designs
When decorating a room, you must follow the stylistic idea, combine ornaments and colors. Material execution is of great importance. The photo of a solid wood kitchen shows an oak design, which looks really stylish and modern. The advantage of this choice is the gradual darkening of the oak. The warm red-cherry shade looks interesting, emphasizing the design features.
Pine is popular because of its structure and varied color palette. The use of ash helps to visually increase space.
Modern variations of wooden kitchens do not use exclusively one material, complementing others. For example, internal partitions and the back of the walls are made using MDF, chipboard. The facade is considered a budget option, which is in no way inferior to other varieties.
This alternative is distinguished by a curved, embossed, lattice, or combined shape.
High-quality wood has a high cost. By combining budget and natural materials, savings are achieved, which does not in any way affect the external characteristics of the product.
Kitchen furniture
It is best to select a complex. If it is not possible, choose individual components that are interconnected in style and color scheme. To determine, it is necessary to consider each individual option, the features that should be paid more attention to.
For the kitchen of an apartment or house, wooden furniture for the kitchen, in particular soft corners, is perfect. The color of the product sets off the wood, emphasizing its advantages. A table is selected to match this element. In this case, the shape and number of available seats play a significant role.
Wooden chairs and stools fit into the style of the kitchen. Their advantages lie in strength and long service life without losing the original appearance of the product.
A wooden tabletop adorns classicism, as well as other trends. Oak, walnut, birch, and alder are used to make the product. Additional accents in the form of carved legs or complex decorative elements help to emphasize the nobleness of the material.
Wood species
Different types of rocks have their own characteristics.
Classic beech is characterized by durability and natural coloring. This type of wood becomes an ally for creating a warm, calm atmosphere.
Versatile oak wood boards. Their shades range from yellow to green and gray.
A wood that is special in its energy is ash. Their products are attractive, any finishing work is used.
Pine boards have a long service life. After a long period of time they begin to darken. By alternating glass inserts and shelves, a visual enlargement of the kitchen room is achieved.
Classic connoisseurs of a cozy and comfortable environment will appreciate alder. This is a discreet material that differs from others in its nobility.
Durable and beautiful to use birch. The price range is acceptable, maintenance does not require effort.
It has a brown tint combined with the delicate pink of cherry wood. It is decorative in itself, so you should not look for other accents. Pay careful attention when choosing the board processing process.
Interior
The traditional style of execution implies classicism. Now this direction is gaining more popularity. This modern wooden kitchen design emphasizes the individuality and noble taste of the owners.
In addition to the classic setting, they pay attention to Provence and country. Rough execution creates an unusual atmosphere; individual components can hide an uneven surface. Decoration elements will include metal lamps, small patterns on textiles, and unusually shaped dishes.
They also arrange the dining room in a certain color. Thus, a white kitchen is considered dignified and elegant in appearance. This classic color is universal and will suit any stylistic decision. Experimenting with color combinations will highlight your individuality and taste.
The positive side of the choice is its unpretentiousness and ease of maintenance of the room. For these purposes, ordinary detergents without alcohol are suitable. For preventative purposes, to maintain a presentable appearance, it is worth covering the furniture with varnish. After wet cleaning, wipe the surface dry.
Beech kitchens: plain classics
In terms of material strength, beech is not inferior to oak. Its peculiarity is the absence of a wood core, so the finished furniture will be monochromatic. The actual color of beech furniture varies from yellow to soft pink and reddish. If you give preference to old wood, you can get a red-brown tint.
Beech can be bleached, planed and white. The first type is used to produce luxury furniture and parquet; the planed material is intended for making plywood, and white beech is too rough, so furniture is rarely made from it. Beech kitchen sets are well suited for classic, baroque or empire style. You should not allow changes in humidity and temperature - the breed does not like this.
Which solid wood is best to choose from for a kitchen?
Not all tree species are suitable for the production of kitchen furniture. Constant temperature changes, evaporation, and mechanical loads require certain quality characteristics from the material.
The most suitable tree species for such furniture are those with high density, such as oak, beech, and cherry. In second place are ash, alder, birch and pine.
- Kitchen made of solid oak. An excellent investment in a family that emphasizes stability, status, comfort and reliability. Oak is the most durable material, so furniture made from it is not subject to deformation and will last for decades. An oak kitchen can become a real family heirloom. The most suitable style for this material is classic. A countertop made of natural stone will look most harmonious in a solid oak kitchen.
- Beech kitchen. Beech is another of the most popular wood species for furniture production. It is durable, easy to maintain, and can be tinted in any color. The texture of the wood does not have pronounced characteristic rings - it is smooth and will fit into any interior.
- Alder kitchen. This breed is moisture resistant and resistant to mechanical stress. Alder has a light warm color. Facades can be made in any style from classic to high-tech.
- Pine kitchen. Furniture made from this species is attractive primarily for its cost - an excellent option for those who want to have furniture made of natural wood, but cannot afford a set of elite species. Pine is actively used in our country for the production of furniture, so its processing technology in Russia is at a high level. Pine has antibacterial properties and is hypoallergenic - furniture made from this material is recommended for people prone to allergic reactions.
Each type of material has its own advantages. But what they have in common is that they all fit perfectly with modern household appliances and fit the most popular styles of furniture fashion.

Alder kitchens: rich and safe
Alder, used for furniture production, is characterized by high strength. In terms of impact resistance, it ranks between pine needles and oak. In the photo you can see that alder sets look representative due to their rich shade. The following are the advantages of kitchen furniture:
- uniform structure and easy surface treatment;
- natural color from beige to bright orange, while manufacturers often use stain to imitate expensive wood species;
- moisture resistance - therefore alder is suitable for the kitchen;
- the wood exudes a pleasant and safe aroma;
- affordability – furniture made from alder is cheaper than other types of wood.
Alder makes excellent countertops for sinks, work surfaces and fronts. Such furniture will decorate a kitchen in a loft or minimalist style.
White kitchen with wooden countertops - 165 photos in the interior
White facades and a wooden work surface are a win-win combination for kitchens in modern and Scandinavian style, loft, light country or Provence.
A wooden tabletop has no place in traditional classics (here it loses to natural and artificial stone), in minimalism and hi-tech (for these styles it is too textured and cozy).
Design options for a white kitchen with different types of wooden countertops, photos of real interiors and tips for choosing an apron are in this article.
Warm natural wood with a beautiful texture enlivens white furniture: with it it does not seem lifeless and faceless. You can easily change the interior by adding bright color accents to suit your mood and season. The space will look different each time.
A white set with a wooden countertop is well suited for a small kitchen (light facades visually increase the space) and a small studio apartment (the cabinets are not conspicuous and are combined with any other furniture and decoration).
Types of wooden countertops for the kitchen
1. From natural or glued solid wood The best material for making a kitchen countertop is hard wood: oak, beech, ash, larch. The denser the wood, the longer it will last.
Pine kitchens: availability and naturalness
Using pine kitchens is always accompanied by budget savings. This is the most inexpensive option for solid wood furniture. The availability of products does not mean lack of attractiveness or low durability: on the contrary, the room is immediately filled with comfort and beauty. Coniferous wood is valued for its elegant golden color, and varnished products look stylish and add zest to the interior.
Pine sets are suitable for creating a country design in the kitchen. In terms of pricing, they are similar to products made from MDF, but in terms of strength they are one step higher. Easy care, resistance to rot after professional treatment and resistance to temperature changes allow you to use pine in the kitchen.
Kitchen made of wood: pros and cons
There is a category of buyers who love everything natural. For example, natural stone, not artificial, natural leather, not leather. deputy, natural linen and cotton, not synthetics. In all of the above cases, natural material is more expensive and difficult to maintain, and natural wood is no exception. In addition, the very concept of natural wood is very flexible. For example, no one will call eco-leather genuine leather, unless, of course, they are trying to sell you a Chinese knockoff Gucci. But with wood, discrepancies are possible: for many manufacturers, everything that is not chipboard or fiberboard is natural wood. That is, in addition to the solid wood itself, this concept can also include MDF, multilayer board (plywood), and wood panel. Therefore, when you are offered a wooden kitchen, it would be nice to clarify what kind of material we are talking about and in what part of the kitchen it is used: only on the doors, on part of the door, on the frame... The concepts of “kitchen made of wood” and “kitchen made of solid wood” “in the minds of sellers and buyers do not always coincide.
Advantages of wooden kitchens
Environmental friendliness
It is clear that chipboard is not environmentally friendly, since formaldehyde resins are used as a binder, which are slowly released and we breathe it. In particularly severe cases, furniture has a characteristic odor. On the outside, the chipboard is laminated with a film, which also contains nothing natural.

MDF and plywood are much less harmful, although both of them also contain binders - these are urea resins modified with melamine.

And yes, there is formaldehyde there too, but in smaller quantities. MDF and plywood are considered environmentally friendly materials, especially if the top is not covered with film or plastic, but, for example, painted with water-based paint or varnished.

Even closer to the solid wood is the furniture panel. Essentially, these are blocks of wood connected to each other with glue, in the vast majority of cases it is PVA glue of varying water resistance. If you hear the expression “one-piece shield,” this does not mean that there will be no glue inside, but only that the gluing goes in one direction (that is, the product uses lamellas of the same length).

Naturally, of all the above, solid wood will be the most environmentally friendly in terms of composition: no glue, no binders, it’s just a piece of wood.
Variety and entertainment
I don't understand why there are so many articles online saying that natural wood limits consumer choice. From a design point of view, wood is one of the most spectacular design options. The solid wood can always be tinted to the desired shade, and if you are more likely to focus on veneered MDF, it’s generally a fairy tale how many options for exotic veneer can be made on the doors.
When choosing finishes for the kitchen, you should always take into account the color and texture of other items in the interior. Fans of natural wood often go overboard with this beautiful material; the interior turns out to be overloaded and cramped. It is better to combine wood with plain materials and play on the tonality: other elements are noticeably lighter or darker than the wooden parts.
Wooden kitchen facades go well with other natural materials, for example, stone floors, countertops, and clear glass lamps. It is very convenient in this regard to distinguish between matte and glossy effects. If you have chosen the most natural matte effect for the kitchen doors (oiled wood or matte varnish), then stone and metals should be chosen with a polished surface.

Possibility of restoration
Unlike laminated surfaces, which can only be thrown away due to old age, wood can be restored.
Photo source: healthycabinetmakers.com
You can replace the varnish, thereby hiding small scratches and cracks that have arisen during use, you can sand out dents, tint or paint, completely changing the boring look of the kitchen. From this point of view, a wooden kitchen can last much longer than a kitchen made from other materials.
Disadvantages of wooden kitchens
Roads
Natural wood and exotic veneers are not production waste in the form of chips, from which chipboard is then made. It is logical that wood costs several times more. If you are ready for this, there are no questions. But if your goal is to save money, I really don’t recommend comparing the cheapest option made of natural wood with the most expensive option made of chipboard. It’s better to take medium-priced MDF with painting; it will look nicer and last longer than cheap solid spruce.
They dry out and rot
Any natural furniture does not like temperature changes, too dry or too humid climates, and kitchens are no exception.
Products made from solid wood, parts of solid natural wood or veneered should not be located closer than 1 m from heating devices. The air temperature in the kitchen should not be less than +10C and more than +30C. Relative air humidity should be 50-60%. It is advisable to exclude the close proximity of the kitchen to the heating radiator.
Kitchens made of inexpensive softwood (usually conifers, such as pine and spruce) are easily scratched and rot in places where splashes from the sink hit them. If the wood was initially poorly dried by the manufacturer, the room was not ventilated, the humidity conditions were not maintained, even high-quality wood can dry out.
Require special operating conditions
Captain obvious: wood is a living material. It follows that over time it can change color, fade in the sun, and also absorbs odors arising during the cooking process, so it is advisable to choose more powerful hoods. Partially, the whimsical nature of wood can be compensated for by high-quality varnish or impregnation. In any case, maintaining a “marketable appearance” requires periodic efforts, which is better to inquire about before purchasing.
Are deformed
The safety of the kitchen, unfortunately, is not so much about compliance with temperature and moisture parameters. Another point that can cause disappointment among owners is the deformation of facades, which occurs due to insufficiently powerful fittings. Solid wood facades are heavier than facades made of MDF and, even more so, chipboard. If, when purchasing, you asked for solid wood, while standard sashes are made of a different material, there is a high probability that the sashes will deform under their own weight. It is unlikely that it will fall off on your head; noticeable curvature is quite possible. This risk also exists when ordering kitchens of a higher height than those provided by the manufacturer’s standard line.
Difficult to keep clean
If you have a wooden kitchen, you need to constantly wipe it so that the grease does not absorb into the pores of the wood and leave stains on the varnish. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or acids as they may damage the surface. You can use either special wood products or just a damp cloth. Particularly problematic in terms of cleanliness are surfaces where wood is oiled or brushed; dirt always collects in the uneven areas.

I am in no way campaigning against kitchens made of natural wood. For example, in one of my projects I installed a solid wood kitchen. It’s hard to say what will happen to it after a few years of use, but the clients wanted exactly this, and I didn’t try to dissuade them.

Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide which kitchen to buy; you just need to take into account all the features of its operation when choosing. If your choice is in favor of unearthly beauty and the absence of harmful substances, any designer will support it, and if you are more for practicality and economy, well, there are other interior elements that you can choose to be beautiful and impractical.

Birch kitchens: carved variety
Birch is considered a soft and plastic species, so it is often used in the manufacture of furniture with carved elements. It is perfect for decorating facades of kitchen units. Due to the variety of textures and patterns, birch furniture is used in Scandinavian style, as well as chalets and Provence.
Several main advantages of this breed:
- strength, which is comparable to the characteristics of beech;
- the environmental friendliness of birch makes it suitable for allergy sufferers and children;
- easy processing - birch can be glued, painted, etched.
Birch has a light shade close to sand. When processed, the color changes: it ranges from yellow to bright orange.
Cherry kitchens: decorativeness and elegance
The production of cherry furniture accounts for 4% of the total lumber market. It is valued for its high decorative characteristics and rich shade. Reddish tones allow you to place a set in modern and classic styles. Cherry is an elastic but deformation-resistant species; sweet cherries are also used along with it.
The cherry set perfectly emphasizes the individuality of the kitchen. At first glance, it seems as if you are in a luxurious palace with elegant furniture elements. The rock's smooth texture makes it popular among designers and manufacturers. Caring for furniture is simple, but the cost of such products will be high.
Wooden kitchen in the interior
It's not easy to be a master of interior design when you only have a few square meters in which you can organize cooking, food storage, and lunch. Minimum clutter and maximum comfort - this is the right formula for a kitchen where you will enjoy cooking and entertaining. Small kitchens require special design ideas to help you maximize the space.
Use elements with glass facades; they make small spaces seem more open. An additional effect is created by lighting, which means you can display all your favorite dishes and decorative elements. Small kitchens are much more common in modern living spaces than large kitchens. There are many ways to decorate and design your wood kitchen and here are some great photos of wood kitchen design ideas that you can try in your own home!
Whether you're redesigning your wood kitchen or installing a completely new one, you'll have many options to choose from. When it comes to kitchen cabinets, wood is the most commonly used material and is popular due to its wide range of styles, qualities and finishes, as well as the ability to create truly custom designs.
If you've settled on wood kitchen cabinets, your next choice will be determining what types of wood to use. Maple is extremely popular because of its complex, attractive texture; It is a tough wood that is resistant to scratching or cracking.
Cherry has a rich tone and will darken over time when exposed to light, and is also softer than maple, making it easier to create custom cherry designs. Oak is a popular choice as it is solid and inexpensive. Finally, birch rates highly as a choice for kitchen cabinets because of its smooth grain.
Kitchens made from exotic breeds: variety of species
Exotic wood species for the production of furniture allow you to achieve uniqueness. The following arrays are used:
- Merbau is a breed from Southeast Asia, durable, wear-resistant and hard, with a golden brown hue;
- zebrano – distinguished by its original pattern and color intensity: from golden to dark with black stripes;
- kempas - a massif from Indonesia with a golden-reddish hue;
- ipe - the tree comes from Central America, characterized by a natural shine on a rich brown background;
- wenge – the richness of shades and excellent texture make this breed in demand.
When choosing natural wood for a kitchen set, it is worth remembering to properly care for the furniture. It must be wiped with a slightly damp cloth without using aggressive detergents.
Decor of a wooden set
To create a unique and individual style of furniture in the kitchen, it is decorated in a variety of ways. For this purpose, decoupage, painting, carved ornaments, painting and varnishing, as well as patina and gilding are used. You can order a kitchen set with ready-made decor, or you can make the design yourself.
Facades and buildings
We list the most common kitchen materials that are used in the production of the body and facade:
- Chipboard
is a sheet of chipboard made by pressing.
Kitchen with facades made of laminated chipboard
- MDF
is a compressed wood fiber sheet.
Kitchen with MDF fronts
- Solid wood
is a natural raw material that is processed.
Kitchen set with solid wood fronts
Each of the above has its own advantages
and
disadvantages
.
Chipboard
Being the most budget option, it has a main drawback - low moisture resistance. This is a huge minus for the kitchen. From an environmental and health safety point of view, after some time furniture begins to emit formaldehyde - substances harmful to the environment. Therefore, the material must be certified to comply with sanitary standards.
Chipboard in section
The sheets are very fragile, and therefore the mechanisms and fittings do not hold firmly, and the same holes cannot be used when reassembling the kitchen.
MDF
The slabs are easy to process due to their uniform surface. It is durable, waterproof and environmentally friendly. Has a lot of finishing options.
MDF material in section
Compared to chipboard, MDF sheets are more durable, but also more expensive.
Comparison of two types of material: chipboard and MDF in section
The photo above shows that the raw materials of the first slab are pressed more densely, which improves the quality of the product. Chipboard has a loose structure, which is why quality suffers.
Solid wood
Suitable for connoisseurs of everything natural and natural. By providing reliable protection by applying various coatings, wood becomes suitable for use in conditions of high humidity and high heat. Ecologically pure. The furniture is durable and does not deform over time. The only negative is the high cost.
Solid walnut shield
For the manufacture of kitchen facades, combinations with glass and metal can also be used.

Carving: a noble decoration for the kitchen
Kitchen facades are often equipped with carved elements, which makes them elegant and imitates antiquity. Such elements decorate the walls of drawers, doors and decorative details. The carving can be relief, applied or sculpted. The latter is used to decorate capitals and columns on sets.
The use of manual labor by a craftsman is highly valued, so such furniture will be expensive. A massive set with carved elements fits into the following interiors:
- classic;
- baroque;
- rococo;
- Victorian style.
You can do the carving yourself; this will require a lot of time, special cutters and perseverance.
Painting and varnishing is an easy way to transform a set
To paint a kitchen unit yourself, you need to correctly calculate the amount of materials. For example, for a standard corner set in a 6-square kitchen, you need to take at least 6 cans of paint and varnish material. The wider and larger the surface, the more raw materials will be required. It works like this:
- They remove all the doors, facades, and drawers.
- Remove all fittings and decor.
- The set is completely cleaned of dirt.
- The surface is sanded if there are any unevenness.
- The base is being primed.
- The set is painted in the required color, if desired, in several layers.
- After the paint has dried, varnish is used.
The same method can be used to paint and varnish any furniture, for example, a sideboard.
Patina or gilding
Patination refers to the deliberate creation of a surface with a golden matte finish. This method is excellent for decorating solid wood facades - it gives them an expensive appearance. For example, if a set is made of pine needles or larch, you can cover it with patina - then it will seem that the furniture is made of valuable wood.
Applying patina or gilding with your own hands is divided into several stages:
- Preparation of materials. You will need acrylic paint, wood primer, finishing varnish, and a can of patina or gilding. It is necessary to work with a brush, dry rags and sandpaper.
- First, the surface is sanded, a primer is applied, and it waits until it dries.
- Next, acrylic paint is applied to match the gold. You can experiment with contrasting options.
- After complete drying, a patina is applied: it is applied with a brush to the decorative and protruding elements of the set.
- When the gilding has dried, the furniture is varnished.
If you apply this method to a bar counter, the result will be an original solution that imitates expensive furniture.
Painting and decoupage
Using the decoupage technique, you can transform even modular solid wood kitchen furniture. All you need is imagination, decorative napkins, glue, acrylic and varnish. The surface is prepared in the same way as for painting. When the acrylic paint is dry, start decorating. The napkin is divided into several layers and applied to the surface, coated with glue.
When the glue dries, coat the surface with varnish. By analogy, painting is used. First a sketch is applied to the painted area of the headset, then the final drawing is painted. At the final stage, the furniture is varnished. These two methods are considered the most affordable and simplest for transforming a solid wood kitchen set.
Glass and stained glass
When using glass elements to update kitchen facades, it is recommended to contact special workshops. They will help you remove the old element, replacing it with a beautiful stained glass pattern or frosted glass. There are several types of decor of this type:
- sandblasting stained glass – the image is applied with sand under high pressure;
- Tiffany stained glass - the design is assembled from different pieces of colored glass;
- fusing – the material is baked and under the influence of hot temperature changes its color and structure.
If you want to convert the facades into stained glass yourself, you will have to remove the old parts and carefully replace them with new ones.
Solid wood kitchen fittings
To fully complete and bring the headset into working order, fittings are used. Elements are selected in accordance with the wishes for use. The color of the external fittings depends on the color of the solid itself. It is not recommended to choose too shiny handles for interiors with noble types of wood.
Internal fittings are represented by the following details:
- gas elevators;
- loops of various types;
- closers;
- shelf supports;
- drawer systems;
- lifting mechanisms.
Solid wood facades are often heavy, so you should choose reliable hinges that will support square meters of the door.
Design solutions
Among the design ideas you can find a lot of interesting things. Below are the most popular ones.

Quality of wooden kitchens
In the manufacture of kitchen furniture made from natural wood or solid wood, expensive types of wood are usually used, such as oak, ash, beech, walnut, cherry, alder, maple, pine, each of which has its own unique characteristics.
Oak
It has the following variety of colors: light yellow-pink, greenish-gray and red-brown. It has a pleasant texture with a prominent fiber pattern. It may darken over time, but this will only give oak products a noble appearance. Such kitchen sets look after a while like antique kitchens.
Ash
It has a distinct original texture that gives the headset a special, sophisticated look. Wood gives off a pleasant natural freshness, which creates the feeling of a summer veranda in the kitchen.
Beech
It has a special, unique texture of light pink tint, with a soft and warm tint. Not inferior in strength to oak material. Perfectly amenable to processing and tinting in any shade. Beech materials in red tones, which experts call smoky beech, are especially valued.
Nut
Walnut kitchen sets are distinguished by a rich, rich dark chocolate color that has a crimson tint. They have an ornate textured pattern. This is a light and elastic wood species.
Cherry
Significantly softer than previous materials. Characterized by a subtle pinkish-brown hue. Cozy kitchens made of cherry wood harmonize well with glass inserts of classical shapes and stained glass windows.
Alder
It is considered the tree of the family hearth, protecting family well-being and unity of all family members. For many, only this characteristic of solid alder is the determining factor in favor of choosing this particular type of wood. Suitable for classic style designer kitchens.
Maple
It does not have pronounced fibers, but when painted it perfectly imitates valuable wood species. It has slightly lower moisture resistance than previous materials.
Pine
Shades ─ brown, beige-yellow, white with highlights of pink tint. It is similar to oak in its ability to change color over time ─ from yellow-golden to pinkish-brown, amber or dark brown. Durable material with a pleasant smell. Moreover, pine wood releases phytoncides. According to experts, these substances are medicinal.
Such materials, with modern technologies and new processing methods, make it possible to produce furniture that has improved performance on such points as safety, reliability and durability.
Safety
In the era of the development of the chemical industry and the widespread introduction of various chemicals into household and household items, the decision to order a kitchen made of wood becomes another opportunity to limit the presence of toxic items in your home.
